Do you often feel bloated after dinner? Or face trouble with getting quality sleep, then there are certain effective yoga poses that you can perform after dinner to respite from digestive problems. Of course the best time to perform yoga is early morning but all of us can stick by it. So, there are also various yoga asanas that you can perform after dinner or other times of the day. Yoga exercises after dinner are helps in better digestion of food and make it less heavy.

1. Camel Pose (Ustrasana):-

The camel pose is an intermediate level back-bending yoga posture. This posture adds strength and flexibility to the body and also helps in improving digestion. It appears to be difficult to do and also been rumoured to adversely affect the back.

r core and press your hips and thighs forward. Lift your chest and reach back touching your heels with your hands. Stay in this position for a couple of breaths.

2. Downward Dog Pose (Adho Mukha Svanasana):-

Downward Dog pose is commonly known as Adho Mukha Svanasana or Parvatasana. It is a forward bending asana which helps in better bowel movement which affect the abdomen. This asana is a boon to a growing body as it stretches the muscles and helps bones to achieve maximum growth.

Performing this asana is easy. Stand on your four limbs and form a table like structure exhale and gently lift your hips. Remember that the hips should be high and hold the position for around 10 – 15 seconds and then bend your knees and return to the table position.

3. Bow Pose (Dhanurasana):-

Dhanurasana or Bow Pose is another asana that is good for relieving constipation and improves digestion. It has been named as Dhanurasana, after the shape of the body takes while performing it – like a bow. This posture is a little bit tricky to perform. Lie down on your stomach, fold your knees, take your hands backward and hold your ankles. Breathe slowly and lift your chest off the ground and pull up your legs and back. Look forward and keep the pose stable. Your body is now curved like a bow, continue to take long deep breathe and hold this position for 15 – 20 seconds.

4. Child’s Pose (Balasana):-

Balasana or Child’s Pose, is an easy yoga asana that can be performed by beginners. This helps to clear bloated stomach and ease indigestion. It is one of the highly beneficial yoga asanas after dinner, which helps to relieve constipation and improves digestion. This is often the first pose taught to beginners which is easy to follow and highly effective.

To perform Balasana, sit on your heels and keeping your hips on the heels. Bend forward, keep the arms alongside your body and tuck your chest into your thighs and lower your forehead to the floor. Gently press your chest on the thighs and hold this position for around 10 – 15 seconds. Slowly come up to sit on the heels and relax.

5. Corpse Pose (Savasana):-

Corpse Pose or Savasana, the lazy person’s favourite pose. This asana gets its name from the recumbent posture of a dead body which is designed to improve body processes and recover all the energy you lost performing all the asanas.  It is a position of rest and relaxation which is usually practiced towards the end of a yoga session.

Getting into position is simple, lie flat on your back, keep your hands by your side, with your palms facing the sky and close your eyes. Keep breathing slowly and gently and allow your breathe to relax you more and more. Hold this position for 15 – 20 minutes and usually you should end your yoga with this pose.
