The botanical name of Brahmi is Centella Asiatica. The English name is Indian pennywort, in Tamil, it is called as vallarai keerai and the health benefits of this leaves are amazing. Brahmi is rich in vitamins and minerals such as vitamin B1, B2, B3, B6 and sodium, manganese, zinc, calcium and magnesium. Brahmi leaves are good for cognitive development and it improves the concentration and attention. Ingredients (for 3 people)
Grated coconut: 1 cup
Brahmi leaves: 10
Green chilli: 2
Cumin seeds: ¼ teaspoon
Salt: ¼ teaspoon
For tempering:
Oil: 1 teaspoon
Mustard seeds: ½ teaspoon
Urud dal: 1/4 teaspoon
Curry leaves: 5
Cooking procedure:
- Take the grated coconut in a mixer grinder.
- Along with that, add the Brahmi leaves, green chillis, cumin seeds and salt.
- Grind this into a fine paste.
- Transfer it to a bowl.
- In a frying pan, add oil.
- When it is hot, add mustard, urad dal and curry leaves.
- Pour this over the chutney and mix well.
- Your chutney is ready for your idli, dosa and for rice also.
