Eggs are considered as one of the most nutritional foods on our planet. If you feed your child one egg per day your child will get the following nutrition:

Puttu is a famous Kerala dish. The twist in this recipe is the layer of egg masala that makes the puttu colourful, tasty and healthy.

Ingredients (For 2 people)
For puttu
Rice flour: 1 cup
Freshly grated coconut: ½ cup
Salt: a pinch
Water: as required
For masala
Egg: 1
Onion: 1 big size
Tomato: 1 medium size
Oil: 2 tsp
Coriander powder: 1 tsp
Chilli powder: 1/4 tsp
Turmeric powder: ¼ tsp
Pepper powder: ¼ tsp
Egg curry masala powder: ¼ tsp
Salt: 1 tsp

How to prepare Puttu?
- Take rice flour in a large bowl and add salt, grated coconut and mix it well.
- Sprinkle water over the mixture and mix well without lumps.
- To check the texture of the flour, take a small quantity in your hand and press it. It will form a lump. If you press again with your fingertips, it will break.
- Keep aside.
How to prepare masala?
- Boil egg by adding enough water and pinch of salt.
- In a frying pan, heat oil and add finely chopped onion.
- When the onion becomes transparent, add tomato in it.
- Cook the tomato till it completely mashed.
- Add salt, coriander powder, chilli powder, turmeric powder, pepper powder and egg curry masala powder.
- Mix well and fry it till the raw smell of the masala gets vanish.
- Now cut the boiled egg into half and put this in the masala and fry it for 3 more minutes.
How to fill the mixture in puttu maker?
- Take the puttu maker (puttu kutti, a cylindrical-shaped tube) and fill it with a layer of a tablespoon of grated coconut.
- Fill it half with the rice flour that kept aside. Place egg masala over the rice flour. Again fill it with rice flour.
- Finally, layer it with a tablespoon of grated coconut.
- Close it and steam for 5 minutes.
- Serve hot.
