  • Early Childhood (Birth To Eight Years)

This is the time when your kids will undergo ample growth in different areas. The newborns are quite dependent but they eventually grow out to be the younger ones who will be taking care of their own body and interact in the right manner. That is why there is a primary developmental task of the stage which is called skills development. It has also been stated that the birth and age of the kid usually get doubled in terms of weight and height too and the proportion of the body also gets shifted. Not only is this, the accounts of the head nearly one-fourth of the length of the body. This means a toddler has a balanced appearance like an adult.

At the age of three to five years, the kid would continue to grow at a faster pace and shall start creating the skills of fine motor. By the age of five, the kid would show good control over the crayons, pencils and even scissors.

  • Middle Childhood (Eight To Twelve Years)

In terms of development, this is rather not so important. However, you can call it a period where your kid grows at a slower pace but more with stability. It is at this stage where best friends become more important than family and the skills that are achieved at this age may offer the blocks building for a better adult relationship. This type of childhood is more of a joyful time with more friendships, better interests, and increased freedom.

  • Adolescence (Twelve To Eighteen Years)

This is the third and most crucial stage. You can also call it the end of the child’s development stage. In this stage, there are different ways such as a cultural, physiological and cognitive level the adolescence is noticed. It suggests a different definition. That is why adolescence is also said to be the culturally constructed time that starts as the individuals who reach the mature considering sexual need in mind. In some cultures, this stage may be short and may not even exist since there could be clinches of sexual maturity in the adult world.

Surely, this is another paced up the level of the growing period for the kids. Individuals have a better growing scope in terms of weight and age. The growth is often characterized by two years of fast growth which is then followed by three more years of steady yet slow growth.

adolescence (12 - 18 years)

For cognitive development, this is an important stage of development. There is also a sexual maturation which is quite important at this time. There has been physical development that is being noticed for attaining sexual maturity. At this age, the individuals are more confident about their personality and prefer staying independent. They undergo ample cognitive and physical and often encounter different situations and responsibilities every time. This is the age where they want to make decisions for themselves without any support.
